Invisalign in Port Orange

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an innovative orthodontic treatment that offers a clear, virtually invisible alternative to traditional metal braces. This modern solution is designed to correct a variety of dental issues, including crooked teeth, overcrowding, gaps, and certain types of bite problems. Instead of metal wires and brackets, Invisalign utilizes a series of custom-made, removable aligners that gradually shift your teeth into their proper position. These aligners are made from a smooth, comfortable, and BPA-free plastic material that won’t irritate your gums or cheeks. Invisalign has revolutionized the field of orthodontics, offering a discreet and convenient way to achieve a healthier, more beautiful smile.

The Invisalign

Treatment Process

The Invisalign treatment process is straightforward and begins with a consultation at Smillie Dental, where Dr. Joseph Smillie or Dr. Helen Smillie will assess your dental health and discuss your smile goals.

Initial Consultation

During your initial consultation at Smillie Dental, our expert dentists will evaluate your teeth and oral health to determine whether you’re a good candidate for Invisalign. This involves a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and jaw, as well as a discussion about your dental and medical history. We’ll also take digital scans of your teeth, which will be used to create your custom Invisalign treatment plan. This is also the perfect opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about Invisalign and what you can expect from the treatment process.

Custom Treatment Plan

Once you’re deemed a suitable candidate for Invisalign, we’ll use the digital scans taken during your initial consultation to create a precise, personalized treatment plan. This plan will outline the exact movements of your teeth and provide an estimate of how long your treatment will take. You’ll even get to see a virtual representation of how your teeth will move during treatment and what your smile will look like once treatment is completed.

Wearing Your Aligners

After your custom aligners are created, you’ll start wearing them for 20-22 hours per day, removing them only for eating, drinking anything other than water, and cleaning your teeth. Approximately every two weeks, you’ll switch to a new set of aligners that will continue to gradually shift your teeth into their desired position. Regular check-ups at Smillie Dental will ensure your treatment is progressing as planned.

The Benefits

Of Tooth Invisalign

Invisalign offers numerous advantages over traditional braces, making it a popular choice for both teens and adults.

Nearly Invisible

One of the primary benefits of Invisalign is that the aligners are nearly invisible. This means you can straighten your teeth without anyone even noticing you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment. This is particularly beneficial for adults and teens who may feel self-conscious about wearing traditional metal braces.

Removable

Unlike traditional braces, which are permanently affixed to your teeth until treatment is complete, Invisalign aligners are completely removable. This means you can take them out when eating or drinking, which eliminates the dietary restrictions associated with traditional braces. It also makes maintaining your oral hygiene routine much easier, as you can brush and floss your teeth normally.

Comfortable

Invisalign aligners are made from a smooth, comfortable plastic material that is custom-made to fit snugly over your teeth. This means there are no sharp wires or brackets to irritate your mouth. Additionally, because the aligners are changed every two weeks, the shifts in your teeth are gradual and typically less painful than the adjustments made with traditional braces.
