Wondering exactly how CEREC same-day crowns can help you in a dental emergency? Feel free to reach out to the team at Smillie Dental, and we will gladly help you understand your options for same-day dental care in Port Orange.

What Is CEREC? Understanding the Basics

CEREC is a method of 3D CAD/CAM (Computer-Assisted Design/Manufacturing) used in dentistry. Instead of taking impressions of your smile and sending them to a dental lab to have your crown built, the team at Smillie Dental can handle the entire process.

First, we’ll scan your mouth using a special 3D handheld scanner to create a model of your teeth. Then, this model will be uploaded into a computer, where Dr. Smillie will design and create your dental crown.

Once the model of your crown looks perfect, Dr. Smillie will send it to an in-office CEREC milling machine and load a tooth-colored block of porcelain into the machine. Then, the milling machine will cut the block into the shape of your crown. This entire process takes only a few minutes. Once your crown is complete, it will be bonded into place permanently, restoring your tooth in just a single appointment.

The Benefits of CEREC Same-Day Crowns for Emergency Care

Wondering why you should choose CEREC same-day crowns if you’re having a dental emergency? Here are just a few benefits of CEREC dentistry for emergency care.

  • Get treatment in a single 2-hour appointment – Traditional dental crowns require two appointments over a period of 2-3 weeks. That means you’ll need to make time to go back to the dentist, which can be inconvenient if you have a busy schedule. CEREC dentistry, on the other hand, lets you get treatment in a single appointment.
  • No temporary crown required – With traditional crowns, you must wear a temporary crown for 2-3 weeks while your permanent crown is being built by a dental lab. These crowns can be uncomfortable and bulky. CEREC completely eliminates the need for temporary crowns.
  • Get relief from pain and discomfort quickly – Our goal is to restore your smile as quickly as we can to give you relief from your pain and discomfort. We use the latest numbing and sedation methods to keep you comfortable during your appointment and restore your smile with CEREC dentistry for permanent relief.
